1. Purpose of This Website

The Texas Civil Guard (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates this website to:

  • Showcase our mission and activities

  • Provide information to the public about who we are and what we do

  • Recruit new members who meet our eligibility requirements

  • Accept voluntary monetary and physical donations to support our mission

  • Provide a way for landowners to contact us for potential training site use

We are an all-volunteer COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE, CIVIL EMERGENCY, EDUCATION, AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT network in North Texas. Our organization consists of multiple units across the region that follow common bylaws of the Texas Civil Guard.

Our Mission

To serve our communities and the State of Texas. Whether through defense of life, liberty, or property; support of law enforcement; or volunteerism within our communities, we believe We The People are our best resource. As an organization, we provide support and educational services for our local communities and municipalities. Some of our services include:

  • Emergency Medical Training

  • Search and Rescue

  • Disaster Preparation and Recovery

  • Self-Defense (armed and unarmed)

  • Neighborhood Watch Organization

  • Emergency Radio Communication

  • Wilderness Survival/First Aid

Our leadership team and many of our members are CERT/FEMA course graduates, and we highly recommend the CERT course for all Texas residents.

2. Criteria for Entry

Membership in the Texas Civil Guard is selective and subject to the following requirements:

Age Requirement:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older to apply.

Background Requirements:

  • Must pass a criminal background check.

  • In some cases, a License to Carry issued by the State of Texas will suffice in lieu of a background check and can greatly speed up the application process.

  • Must legally own a rifle.

Preferred Experience:

  • Former military service members are welcomed and encouraged.

  • Current and former law enforcement officers are welcomed and encouraged.

Character Requirements:

  • All applicants will be personally interviewed.

  • We do not accept racists, bigots, sexists, or any individuals who marginalize others based on physical traits.

  • Applicants must display a dedication to supporting and defending our constitutional freedoms.

  • Drug use is strictly prohibited.

  • Possession of illegal weapons is prohibited.

Physical Requirements:

  • Members are responsible for maintaining their own physical fitness; we do not conduct group PT.

  • We accept members of all physical capabilities who meet the other requirements.

Application Process:

  • All applicants must complete our processing procedure before receiving an invitation to train with us.

  • Processing includes, but is not limited to:
    A. An interview
    B. Background check
    C. Internal, State, and sometimes Federal documentation as required

  • Clearance to train with us and/or membership is not guaranteed.

3. Donations

  • Voluntary Contribution: All donations—whether monetary, physical goods, gear, or equipment—are made voluntarily, of the donor’s own free will, and are non-refundable.

  • No Services or Benefits in Return: Donations do not entitle the donor to any goods, services, training, preferential treatment, or membership within the Texas Civil Guard.

  • Ownership of Donated Items: Any physical goods, gear, or equipment donated become the sole property of the Texas Civil Guard. We may use, redistribute, modify, or sell such items at our discretion. Proceeds from any sales will be used to support our mission.

  • Not Tax-Deductible: The Texas Civil Guard is not a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit or any other tax-exempt entity. No donation—monetary or physical—is tax-deductible under state or federal law. Donors are encouraged to consult a tax professional before making a contribution.

  • No Legal Obligation: Donations are provided without expectation of reimbursement, return, or specific use designation.

4. Intellectual Property

All content on this website — including text, images, logos, and graphics — is the property of the Texas Civil Guard and may not be reproduced, distributed, or used without our written permission.

5. Disclaimer of Liability

This website is for informational purposes only. While we strive for accuracy, we make no guarantees regarding the completeness or accuracy of the information provided.
Participation in any in-person activity with the Texas Civil Guard requires signing a separate waiver of liability.

6. Privacy

We collect personal information voluntarily submitted through our contact forms, including names, email addresses, phone numbers, and mailing addresses. The handling of this information is governed by our separate Privacy Policy.

7. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by and construed under the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

We may update these Terms & Conditions at any time without prior notice. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date.
